About Us

Jeff and Josephine Dufresne—along with their beloved canine companions—set out in retirement to find a quieter, more meaningful life beyond the city. Their journey led them to the rolling countryside of Milton, where they discovered six wooded acres shaded by towering hardwoods and surrounded by natural serenity—an ideal setting for cultivating mushrooms.

At the heart of the property, they built a distinctive stone-and-glass home they named Pax Domus, Latin for “house of peace.” Soon, the name became more than a home—it became a guiding philosophy.

Blending both Jeff’s agrarian roots with Josephine’s culinary passion, Pax Domus Farm was established in 2020, first dedicated to growing exceptional edible mushrooms for the local community. Over time, their curiosity expanded beyond flavor to wellness, inspired by the restorative qualities of select medicinal mushrooms long valued for supporting vitality, balance, and longevity.

Today, modern science continues to validate what ancient cultures long understood: these remarkable fungi may offer meaningful benefits not only for people, but also for the animals who share our lives.

Pax Domus Farm remains committed to this intersection of tradition, science, and stewardship—cultivating mushrooms with intention, integrity, and care.
